New life for broken ware

Nothing in this world is perfect and nothing is permanent. However, a broken object does not have to immediately be thrown away.

This ware had emotional value for me. It had been waiting for its own time in a cardboard box for a few years. It has not happened to me very often that my ware break during firing. Vessels with ice crackle glaze are more likely to break due to the stresses that occur between the vessel and the glaze, and this was one of the few that had already broken during firing.

I didn’t really know how to fix it. You can look at pictures of the Kintsugi technique but doing it yourself is another thing. But if you don’t know what to do, it’s better to start from something than to wait forever.

This piece was repaired using the modern Kintsugi technique. Repairing with Urushi resin and real gold will have to wait.
