Some say that potters are most unhappy people because they fail to get the expected results so often. I say potters are happiest people because every making and firing is full of surprises to be glad of.
All rules say that you should make one change at a time.
All normal potters make glaze test separate using all kinds of different methods for blending the glaze and colorants. I guess I am not a normal potter. I take a clay that I have never used before and throw it into a nice pot and of course with a lid. I have an idea of the glaze I want to use then I mix it together and glaze the fine pot with it.
First time ever using the semi porcelain and I was hoping for a leaf green translucent glaze, but I guess I was too modest on adding the oxides to the glaze. I only got a small green hint in the middle of the knob.
Regardless I feel that clay will stay on my shelves and the glaze will get a bit more oxides next time I fire it again. All good and a smiley on my face. This pot is now on our kitchen table filled with sweet honey.
