I have many time promised to write about making of a teapot, instead I made a video from my last making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making a teapot is said to be the mother of all challenges. I admit it's tough, but it's also the most rewarding challenge of them all. When you make a teapot, you're focusing on functionality and technical skills. It's all about function and purpose first, and then aesthetics come after. It's so satisfying to take on the teapot challenge every once in a while to get your focus right and sharpen your technical skills in making well-functioning ceramics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It's always important to remember that the purpose of a teapot is to serve tea and do that well. The purpose sets boundaries for the functional details of the teapot, which limit its design and aesthetic concept. It's the opposite of most ceramics that are made for artistic purposes. A teapot can also be made as a piece of art, but it should be a well-functioning piece of art that serves its purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The skills of making a teapot do not come over night, they come with each teapot you make, and the next one will be better again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
